My mom tried these asparagus bundles from Trisha Yearwood, and the family immediately declared they should be added to the regular side dish rotation. Yes, we’re pretty big fans of asparagus, and if you’ve ever had this recipe you would be too!

Not sure how much better it can get to wrap yummy bacon around an already yummy veggie. How about seasoning with brown sugar, butter, and soy sauce?! Perfection. Plus they are SO easy to make. Just 5 minutes of prep and then bake! They are on the table in UNDER 30 minutes.

Not only do these taste absolutely amazing, but they look FABULOUS – perfect for a dinner party or special event!

Why we think you’ll love it:

  • You eat with your eyes first. This easy side dish is a stunner! It may be simple but it has a wow factor, perfect for special occasions and holidays.
  • Ready in no time. Just 5 minutes of prep and then bake! It’s on the table in under 30 minutes for a mostly hands-off dish.

Asparagus Bundles Ingredients and Substitutions

  • 2 pounds fresh asparagus, trim ends – Look for a bundle of small to medium-sized stalks with tight buds on the spear. Easily trim the asparagus by bending the asparagus stalk near the bottom. It will naturally snap at the point where the tough, woody part ends, or use a knife to cut 1-2 inches off the bottom.
  • 12 slices bacon Use regular-cut, thick-cut bacon won’t cook all the way through.
  • ½ cup butter – We use unsalted butter, but salted works as well.
  • ½ cup brown sugar – light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (with parsley flakes)
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

How to Make Asparagus Bundles

  1. PREP. Preheat oven to 400°F. Separate asparagus into 12 bundles.
  2. ASSEMBLE. Wrap 1 piece of bacon around each bundle and secure it with a toothpick.
    • Place bundles in a casserole dish.
    • In a small pot, combine butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil and then pour over the asparagus bundles.
  3. BAKE. Cook for 20-25 minutes.

For crispier bacon, place them under the broiler for a couple of minutes after the initial cooking time. Watch closely so they do not burn.

    Grilling Directions

    1. Allow the wrapped asparagus to marinate in the sauce for 3-5 minutes. Heat the grill to 400-450ºF.
    2. Place the bacon-wrapped asparagus bundles directly on the grill grates.
    3. Close the grill lid and cook for 5-8 minutes per side, or until the bacon is crisp and the asparagus is tender.

The bacon does not look cooked. Don’t want to eat raw pork or over cooked asparagus. Love the idea and will try with half slice of bacon to make sure the bacon cooks.

      1. Lil' Luna says:

It is cooked, but you could definitely cook longer or try with the half slice, if you’d prefer. Hope you like it!

These are positiveLy amazing!!!!! The sauce wAs so good that my family all wanted sEconds. I do though like my bacon a little more crispy but i DON’t want to overcook the asparagus. Do you Have any suggestions?

        1. Kristyn Merkley says:

That’s tough, because you can’t wrap crispy bacon. Maybe under a broiler for like a min??
